Current prices (Regular, Mid-Grade, Premium, Diesel) are fetched daily from the U.S. Energy Information Administration's public API and reflect the national average from EIA's weekly retail gasoline and diesel price survey. The Jan 20, 2025 comparison figures are drawn from AAA's published weekly national averages closest to that date — Regular gas is interpolated between AAA's Jan 16, 2025 ($3.10) and Jan 23, 2025 ($3.13) reports; Mid-Grade, Premium, and Diesel use AAA's Jan 11, 2025 report ($3.543 / $3.897 / $3.551) as the nearest available reading, since AAA does not publish a reading for every individual date.
This is a price comparison only. Fuel prices are affected by many overlapping factors — global crude oil markets, refinery capacity and outages, seasonal demand, regional taxes, and geopolitical events (including 2026's disruption to diesel markets) — and this page does not attribute the change to any single cause.
